International Animal Rescue
Dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of suffering animals

The aim of International Animal Rescue is to come to the aid of wild and domestic animals with hands-on rescue and rehabilitation.

At International Animal Rescue we do exactly what our name says. We save animals from suffering around the world by:

When we can, we release rescued animals back into the wild. And when that’s not possible, we care for them in our sanctuaries.

With your help, we can save many more animals like these.

Free the dancing bears of India

IAR has been campaigning to free the bears since 2002 when our first sanctuary opened in Agra, India.

The trade in dancing bears has been illegal in India since 1972, but kalandar nomads still use bears on the streets to beg money from tourists. Indian dancing bears are sloth bears, poached from the wild as tiny cubs. Any cub that survives this trauma is destined for a life of misery and pain, beaten and abused to make him 'dance.'

Meet our resident dogs in Goa

There are a number of reasons why some dogs remain at our centre in Goa.

The shelter at Animal Tracks in Goa provides a temporary home for most of the dogs that pass through the gates.

They are brought in to be sterilised and treated before being returned to their territory. But some dogs end up staying as permanent residents at the centre and become part of the family.

Tippu the bear: smiling again

Tippu’s teeth were cruelly smashed with a hammer when he was just six months old.

IAR’s dental team carried out complex dental surgery on Tippu and ended his pain.

Dentistry is vital for the rescued bears to live happy, healthy lives. If you have suffered toothache you know how painful it can be. Will you help us to put a smile back on the face of other bears like Tippu?
