![]() The trade in dancing bears has been illegal in India since 1972, but kalandar nomads still use bears on the streets to beg money from tourists. Indian dancing bears are sloth bears, poached from the wild as tiny cubs. Any cub that survives this trauma is destined for a life of misery and pain, beaten and abused to make him 'dance.' |
![]() There are a number of reasons why some dogs remain at our centre in Goa. The shelter at Animal Tracks in Goa provides a temporary home for most of the dogs that pass through the gates. They are brought in to be sterilised and treated before being returned to their territory. But some dogs end up staying as permanent residents at the centre and become part of the family. |
