International Animal Rescue
Dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of suffering animals

The aim of International Animal Rescue is to come to the aid of wild and domestic animals with hands-on rescue and rehabilitation.

At International Animal Rescue we do exactly what our name says. We save animals from suffering around the world by:

When we can, we release rescued animals back into the wild. And when that’s not possible, we care for them in our sanctuaries.

With your help, we can save many more animals like these.
> Help us to end their pain

Free the dancing bears of India

IAR has been campaigning to free the bears since 2002 when our first sanctuary opened in Agra, India.

The trade in dancing bears has been illegal in India since 1972, but kalandar nomads still use bears on the streets to beg money from tourists. Indian dancing bears are sloth bears, poached from the wild as tiny cubs. Any cub that survives this trauma is destined for a life of misery and pain, beaten and abused to make him 'dance.'

Woof! I'm Olive Oyl and I live at Animal Tracks, the IAR centre in Goa. I now have my very own blog to tell you all about the goings on at the centre.

I meet and greet everyone who comes through the gate. I still can’t believe my luck - I was down and out on the streets, but IAR rescued me in the nick of time. Now I’m a real VIP - a Very Important Pooch. Life is great, and thanks to International Animal Rescue and its supporters I’m here to tell the tale! > Read my blog

Toba the blind bear now in our care

Join Bill Bailey in supporting our appeal to help the blind bears in our sanctuaries in India.

“The blind bears need our special help. We can’t give them their sight back. But we can make their lives happy and fulfilled. With toys and treats we can get them playing and climbing, and foraging for their favourite food. Please make Christmas a happy time for the blind bears in India. Thank you.”
